Testimonials

Hear from fellow UMSU members.

I'm a 4th-year student in the Faculty of Arts, majoring in Criminology with a Minor in Political Studies. You've probably seen me on campus hosting events as ASBC's racialized representative, getting coffee at Degrees, or frantically trying to get assignments done! When I'm not doing schoolwork, you can probably find me cooking (check out my instagram page!) or working as a constituency assistant to a local politician. I plan to become a lawyer after graduation and help marginalized communities navigate the criminal justice system.

Constituency Assistant | 2024-2025Working as a Constituency Assistant for the Deputy Speaker of the Manitoba Legislature, I connect with the community, help with advocacy, and navigate government processes. I handle outreach, talk to constituents, and work on policy-related tasks to make sure people’s concerns are heard. This role has given me hands-on experience in building relationships, pushing for change, and communicating with decision-makers.ASBC Racialized Representative | 2024-2025As the Racialized Representative for the Arts Student Body Council, I advocate for racialized students by bringing their concerns forward and pushing for meaningful change. I launched Heritage Unity Grounds, an initiative that highlights the intersection of queer and racialized identities, bringing external partners on board to provide coffee and other resources. Through this role, I work on equity-focused initiatives, collaborate with student leaders, and help create a more inclusive campus environment.Judicial Board Chair (formerly) | 2024-2025As the Judicial Board Chair for the University of Manitoba Students’ Union, I ensured fairness and accountability in student governance. Having served on the Board of Directors, I'm already familiar with UMSU’s processes, bylaws, and decision-making structures. In this role, I oversaw appeals, interpreted governing documents, and helped uphold the integrity of the student union. My experience allowed me to navigate complex policies and ensure that student voices were respected in every decision.UM Pre-Law Queer Representative (formerly) | 2023-2024As the Queer Representative for the UM Pre-Law Society, I connected queer students with valuable opportunities by bringing in external resources, networking with professionals, and sharing career and academic opportunities tailored to 2SLGBTQ+ students. I worked to bridge the gap between students and the broader legal community, ensuring they had access to mentorship, events, and resources to support their journey in law.Why does this matter? You deserve a union that works for you, and a part of that is electing someone who can hit the ground running to make meaningful steps toward making life better for students. Through my experience, I show a track record of being able to do exactly that. My experience working for the government has allowed me to make relationships with elected officials in all levels of government, and my work on various student governments has provided me the opportunity to advocate for students.

Affordable Tuition
Tuition is constantly rising, and the affordability crisis affects students disproportionately, no matter if you're a domestic or international student. I'll work with external partners such as the government and other lobbying groups to encourage admin and government to freeze tuition.
Transparency in UMSU
You and I pay UMSU fees every year. If elected, I will provide a transparent and accountable overview of UMSU's external relations. You deserve to know where your money's going.
Student Safety
In recent years, safety has become a major issue on campus. Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure while pursuing their education. I want to ensure that ample services and supports are available to all students.
